First Choice Music Studio F.A.Q.
How long is each lesson?
30 minutes, once per week, at the same time each week.
How much do lessons cost?
We charge by the month, not by the lesson. Each month you'll pay $115, regardless of whether there are 4 or 5 lessons in that month. (And every three months or so there is a fifth lesson!)
Is there a contract or long commitment?
No, we just ask that you sign a simple policy sheet and give us 30 days notice to quit lessons.
What types of payments do you accept?
Checks and charge or debit cards are welcome.
How often do you recommend that we have lessons?
30 minutes once per week works best for most students. If more lesson time is desired with the teacher we recommend 60 minutes once per week rather than two 30 minute lessons per week.
Can I take lessons every other week?
No, in order for you to learn and progress you need to make a commitment to regular weekly lessons.
Do you do in-home lessons or must we come to you?
We don’t give in-home lessons so you must come to us.
What types of lessons do you offer?
We offer lessons on all instruments and voice, and can work with beginners or advanced students. We can also give lessons on a variety of other topics such as improvisation, composition and music theory.
Where are you located?
Our main location is in downtown Dublin behind the Brazenhead restaurant, one block off N High. A really good, but confusing landmark at the corner of North St and N. High is a sign showing the way to the parking lot for 100 N. High. It actually points right down North St. toward our building! Our north Columbus location is on Indianola just north of Morse Rd. Please check the maps page on this website for exact details and photos.
What can parents do during the lesson?
Parents may sit in on the lesson, wait in the waiting area or run errands at the library or nearby stores and shops. We have free WiFi available, so feel free to bring your smart phones and tablets.
When can we start?
Immediately! We just have to find a time that works with your schedule and our teachers' schedule.
What do we do if the student can’t attend a lesson?
Please call as soon as you know. If your cancellation call is 24 hours or more before the lesson time we will schedule a make-up lesson for you.
Do you give student recitals?
We offer 3 student recitals per year, all are free and all students of all levels are encouraged to perform. The recitals are typically held Spring, Summer and late Winter.
What is a typical lesson like?
The student will set up his/her instrument, the instructor will tune it if needed, then they will warm up and review the material the student practiced for the week. Mistakes are corrected and after new material is introduced, the student will practice that material over the course of the following week.
Can we change to a different day or time?
Yes, just let us know if you need a new day or time and we will offer other options to fit your schedule.
